BrownWinick’s Insurance practice group represents insurance companies in all aspects of their relationships with federal, state and local governmental entities. This entails: representing insurance companies in connection with administrative and regulatory issues before the Governor’s office, the State Treasurer, the Iowa Insurance Division and the Iowa Economic Development Authority (“IEDA”); full-time lobbying at the Iowa Legislature on legislative issues of interest to life, health, property and casualty insurance companies; aiding insurance companies in responding to requests for proposals for services from agencies administering state pension, deferred compensation plans, and college savings plans; and negotiating state and local financial incentives for building expansions and development of the associated real estate, job creation and training programs.

BrownWinick represents its insurance company clients before the Internal Revenue Service and in United States District Courts and Federal Appellate Courts in connection with issues relating to the federal taxation of such companies. They also actively work with insurance clients in the analysis of appropriate and effective business structures and assist them as they participate in the various state insurance industry associations.
