I practice primarily in the area of utility regulation and administrative law, which is usually a conversation-killer at a cocktail party. However, energy issues are a part of everyday life, and I work for utilities and for utility customers to arrive at solutions that are good policy and good for you. Utility regulation can be complex, but in the end, it often comes down to a few simple principles that drive the answers.
My Approach
When new matters arise, I start by acquiring a full understanding of the facts and the issues. Once I understand your situation and your concerns, I can review the applicable law and help you to solve any problems and get to where you want to be.
More About Me
Before joining BrownWinick, I was general counsel to the Iowa Utilities Board for over 15 years. Prior to that time, I was a senior attorney for a large, rate-regulated gas and electric utility and, before that, a partner in another law firm. At all stages of my career, my emphasis has been on utility regulation and administrative law.
I received a J.D., with high honors, from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1983. I also have a B.A. in Economics from Yale University. I was selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers® in the area of Energy Law and I have an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell.
