U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has conducted a second H-1B lottery to select additional FY 2021 H-1B Cap cases. BrownWinick first reported the conclusion of the H-1B lottery selection in April; however, employers began to receive notifications of case selection late last week.
This second lottery is in an effort to fill the FY 2021 H-1B visa quota of 85,000 visas. Presumably, USCIS did not receive enough visas during the initial filing period, which ended on June 30, 2020. No official statement has been made by USCIS regarding the statistics of this second lottery, or how many spots remain available. The new filing window is open as of August 17, 2020 and will continue through November 16, 2020. BrownWinick is continually monitoring the selection process and will provide updates as they become available.
