Jan Baker Memorial Sock Drive

The Spring Charity Project for BrownWinick was the Jan Baker Memorial Sock Drive. This project was a collection event for an important staple – SOCKS! In total, BrownWinick attorneys and staff donated 353 pairs of socks that will be given to local shelters.

Socks are the most essential item to a homeless person and the item that shelters most need for all ages - any thickness or material, and any style. The Jan Baker Memorial Sock Drive was started by Jan’s daughter the first holiday after Jan passed away in October 2015. Jan and her daughter volunteered each year on Christmas Day by serving a meal at a homeless shelter. Jan always had cold feet and often wore two pairs of socks, so a sock drive was a great way to honor Jan and give an essential item to the homeless. This year was the 5th anniversary of the Jan baker Memorial Sock Drive. Last year 1,500 pair of socks were donated to local shelters.
