As a dually-licensed attorney and CPA at BrownWinick, my practice lies at the intersection of business law and taxation. This could be anything from advising you about the income tax implications of a complex business transaction, employment agreement, or investment; to analyzing sales tax implications for your business; representing you or your business in an audit or tax controversy; counseling you or your business regarding employee benefits; preparing federal and state tax returns for you, your business, or your nonprofit organization; structuring and setting up your new businesses, and so much more.

My Approach

I aim to build a relationship with you as your trusted advisor, not just your attorney, so that I am better able to assist you with proactive tax planning, rather than just reacting to taxable events. That being said, I also realize that taxable events are sometimes not planned. Regardless, my goal is always to provide you with concise and straightforward advice on complex issues. When audits and tax controversies arise, I understand they can be quite overwhelming. My role is to navigate you through the process, help you prepare, and communicate on your behalf making the situation much less stressful for you.

More About Me

I received my B.B.A., with distinction, in Accounting and a Certificate in Spanish in 2010 from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa. I obtained my J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law and was admitted to the Iowa bar in 2014. While in law school, I received the Boyd Service Award with High Honors for volunteer service, studied abroad in Madrid, Spain with William & Mary Law School, and completed courses in the Master of Accountancy program at the University of Iowa Henry B. Tippie College of Business to meet CPA license requirements. In 2015, I received my CPA license.

Prior to joining BrownWinick, I worked in public accounting. This experience allows me to see beyond the legal aspects of a transaction or agreement and work side-by-side with your other tax and financial advisors.

I have been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers® – Ones To Watch in the area of Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law.  I currently serve on the Associate Board of the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa. I am a member of the American Academy of Attorney-CPAs, Iowa State Bar Association, Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Polk County Bar Association.
