I am lucky enough to work in a practice where two of my passions intersect: medicine and law. Whether your case involves allegations of improper medical care or allegations of personal injury, medicine and law will be key components. My medical knowledge and legal experience provide expertise in handling your case and getting the best possible outcome. As your attorney, I recognize that no case is big or small—it is your case, and it is important to you.
I work with an experienced team where each member has specific expertise. We develop a plan tailored to your case and then we carry out that plan. I have relationships with many experts who will be instrumental to your case. Being involved in a legal situation is stressful. To help minimize that stress, I truly listen to you, and I communicate about the issues in a way that is meaningful to you.
More about me
I started my career as a respiratory therapist, working mainly in ICU. After obtaining my bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, I moved into hospital administration as the Director of Quality Management. I was involved in the medical staff peer review system as well as the credentialing process. Because I worked for an attorney, I was inspired to seek a career in law. With a supportive husband and three little kids in tow, I changed careers and headed to law school. I attended Drake Law School where I was a member of the Law Review. After graduating in 1994 as a member of the Order of the Coif, I joined an insurance company and worked in the area of medical malpractice. After six years I moved into private practice, where I have been for 19 years. I have tried many cases around the State of Iowa. I also represent health care providers before their professional licensing boards.
I am an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where I have held many different positions. It is my honor to serve as a member of the Iowa State Bar Grievance Commission. In my spare time I enjoy exercising, gardening, and spending time with my family. My husband and I are learning to kayak, which is a new and exciting adventure for us.
