When people ask what it is I do for work, I always respond with “I’m a lawyer – a NICE one, I promise.”  I rarely (i.e., never) yell “I object!” as part of my job, nor, do I refer to legal issues in Latin. I’m an associate attorney at BrownWinick, who takes a practical and down-to-earth approach to practicing real estate and corporate law.

My Approach:

As a real estate lawyer, my role is to chase the paper you don’t want or have time to chase. I work diligently to make each transaction as smooth and easy as possible for you. My goal is to provide you with focused, clear, and concise information so that we can work together to solve your real estate issues with as little interruption to your daily life as possible. I understand that your time is precious and the last thing you want, or need, is to read a long document full of legal jargon. Instead, I’m here to explain the practical implications of “the paper” to your project, business, or personal situation.

More About Me:

In 2007, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa in History and Communication Studies. In 2009, I earned a Master of Urban Planning and Real Estate Development degree from the University of Kansas.  I graduated from Drake University Law School in 2012 with a Juris Doctorate degree.  As my dad likes to say, that’s 9 years, 3 degrees, and I still can’t take your appendix out!

I’m an Iowa native and, aside from my brief stint in Kansas, have spent my life in Iowa. I practiced law in-house with a large multifamily company prior to my career with BrownWinick. I participate in a number of organizations, including the Polk County Women Attorneys Association, CREW Iowa, Iowa Commercial Real Estate Association, Iowa Housing Partnership, and the Iowa State and Polk County Bar Associations. Go Hawks!

  • Business and Corporate
