My Approach

I listen first, and then counsel. Litigation is stressful and your first priority is your own life and professional practice. My approach to litigation from the perspective of your priorities and concerns protects your bottom line, personally and financially. Whether we go to trial or negotiate hard for settlement, I am here to focus all of my knowledge and skill in your service. I am a litigator. I love the courtroom and the strategy of practicing law. My favorite part of practice is being the best prepared one in the room, and that’s how I succeed in serving you.

More About Me

After my clerkship at the Illinois District Court (Cook County), I worked on federal Health Care and Human Services policy on behalf of public employees in nine midwestern states. Shifting to civil litigation, I built my practice in Eastern Iowa before moving to Des Moines. My career began in complex civil litigation representing business and property owners, and I bring broad experience with a sharper focus to our group at BrownWinick. My dual concentration in trial and appellate practice gives me a unique perspective on professional licensing actions before administrative boards, where making your record for appeal can be paramount. In my ten years of practice in Iowa I have litigated in just under a third of our 99 counties. My relationships within the legal and medical professions across Iowa and the Midwest are at your service.

I am a Barrister of the C. Edwin Moore Inn of Court and was admitted to the Illinois bar in 2003 and the Iowa bar in 2011. I graduated in 1999 from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, with honors, receiving a B.A. in English Literature. While at Loyola Marymount, I was a member of the English Honors Society. In 2002, I received my J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. During law school, from 2001-2002, I served as president of the Women’s Law Association.

As a Chicago native, I’ve happily put down roots in Iowa. My family and I love fishing and water sports all over the state, from Walnut Creek to West Lake Okoboji. I am an avid cook and enjoy making traditional Sicilian specialties with my mom and sisters, and battling with my Northern Italian husband over who makes better pasta sauce. My greatest joy is skiing with my sons and their gramps in Crested Butte, Colorado.
