As an associate attorney at BrownWinick, I enjoy taking on the legal questions that seem too complicated to answer. Relying on my background in engineering and problem solving, I have taken those skills and applied them to a wide-range of technical and nuanced areas of law, all while maintaining the goal of walking alongside clients and providing guidance that is practical and helpful from both a business and legal perspective.

My Approach

I strive for efficiency but also know that in order to minimize the risk of complicated problems, you have to dig in for some hard work. No matter how complicated the issue, I believe in thoroughness, doing things right, and preparing for the “what-ifs”. My goal is that clients feel that I am their partner who is going to provide straight-forward answers and realistic outcomes.

Using my engineering degree for intellectual property and data privacy law is obvious, but I also use that same training to help companies sponsor individuals for employment-based visas. Immigration is more than law for me; it is something I encounter every day, thanks to my Canadian husband. Not only do I have the legal expertise, but I have been in your shoes as you navigate those uncertainties. The practice of immigration law is something that not only requires knowledge, but compassion and empathy.

More About Me

I am a 2013 graduate of the University of Iowa, with B.S. in Chemical Engineering and in 2016, I received a J.D., with honors, from Drake University Law School and was admitted to practice in Iowa. I was also Editor in Chief of the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law during law school. I am a registered patent attorney and am active in bar associations, as well as the American Agricultural Law Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

My husband and I make Pella our home and we are active in the community there. I currently serve as Secretary of the Young Professionals of Pella and support my husband in his ministry at Calvary CRC in Pella. I volunteer as a youth leader for our church’s high school youth group and often play drums in the praise band on Sunday mornings.
