Iowa lawmakers debated numerous policy proposals during the 2019 legislative session. Legalizing sports betting; establishing Iowa’s first children’s mental health system; restoring felon voting rights; and instituting work requirements for Medicaid recipients were just a few of the many issues debated at the Capitol. The Iowa House introduced 1,100 bills, while state Senators put up another 965 proposals. Ultimately, Governor Kim Reynolds signed 169 bills into law.
As in previous years, BrownWinick’s Government Relations team was “on the ground” daily from the time session convened on January 14 to adjournment on April 27.
