Iowa Republicans enjoyed a strong election night as they swept the federal races and nearly swept the statewide contests. U.S. Senator Charles Grassley was re-elected to his eighth term and all four GOP congressional candidates prevailed. Additionally, Governor Reynolds and Lt. Governor Adam Gregg handedly defeated Deidre DeJear and Eric Van Lanker for their second re-election. Republicans also increased their majorities in the Iowa Senate from 30-20 to 34-16 and in the House from 60-40 to 64-36.
