Administrative Roles

REAL ESTATE PARALEGAL: 

The qualified applicant will have 3+ years of real estate experience, with experience as a paralegal or title closer preferred. Candidates must be self-directed and disciplined, have strong communication skills, and have experience supporting multiple individuals, including attorneys, lenders, realtors, and clients, on real estate transaction matters. Candidates must also observe confidentiality.

Summary Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills, practice with a strong attention to detail and be highly motivated, must be proactive and conscientious, and must have the ability to work independently. The successful paralegal must possess strong analytical and technical skills with a particular focus on managing real estate projects.

Education/Skills/Abilities: Associate’s Degree and 3+ years of progressively responsible real estate experience. We strongly prefer experience with the Iowa Land Title Standards and Iowa Land Records online filing system; review and confirmation of legal descriptions; preparation of deeds, lease assignments, and related real estate conveyance documents; the review and analysis of real estate documentation, including abstracts, title opinions, title guaranty and title insurance commitments and related pro formas and settlement statements; and handling residential and commercial real estate closings, including the preparation of 1099s, settlement statements, and tax prorations, and review and preparation of closing checklists and binders. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and document management skills is a must. Proficient with other office-related equipment.

TAX RETURN PREPARER/REVIEWER (Seasonal – December-May)

Job description: A qualified applicant has 2-3 years of tax/accounting experience, in particular with preparing and/or reviewing federal and state income tax returns for businesses, individuals, and trusts as well as organizing and developing a supporting documentation/workpaper file for the returns, as needed, including reconciling bank and investment accounts. Some research may be necessary. Must be proactive and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities and assist in overall project management and tax filing compliance and maintenance. An ideal candidate has excellent communication and organizational skills, has attention to detail, and is highly motivated and conscientious. A successful candidate possesses strong analytical and technical skills.

Education/Skills/Abilities: Post-high school degree preferred and at least 2-3 years of progressively responsible tax/accounting experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, QuickBooks, and ProSystem tax preparation software is also preferred.

TAX RETURN PREPARER [For post-high school/undergrad] (Seasonal – December-May)
