Specialties

I’m an attorney at BrownWinick specializing in real estate law. I bring a fresh perspective to the table, particularly in eminent domain cases. My background working for the government has equipped me with a deep understanding of the complexities involved in property rights and government regulations. I’m committed to being your trusted and reliable partner in achieving the best outcomes for your real estate needs.

I know that navigating real estate issues can be challenging, whether you’re a property owner facing acquisition, a tenant entering a commercial lease, or a developer looking to understand your options. My goal is to make this process as accessible as possible for you. I’m passionate about advocating for your interests and ensuring you feel informed and empowered every step of the way.

My Approach

In real estate law, I enjoy tackling difficult title issues and finding solutions for you, the client. I pride myself on maintaining positive client relationships; making my clients feel comfortable and confident in the advice I provide. I focus on clear, concise legal drafting because I believe any legal document should be understandable to you and any other party reading it. This is important, particularly in real estate when the documents I am drafting and reviewing may be filed of record for the next few hundred years!

I have a deep understanding of the consequences that could result from poorly drafted agreements from my time working as a clerk in civil litigation firms and clerking for a civil litigation judge. But, on the other hand, my experiences have also given me the ability to weigh the risks with you so that we can achieve the outcome that you are looking for.

More About Me

I graduated from the University of Denver with a certificate in corporate and commercial law and was one of eight students in a nationally recognized law clinic specializing in transactions and economic development.  After living away from Iowa for ten years, my family made the very easy decision to move home to Iowa to raise our family. After moving back, I worked for the City of Des Moines as a real estate attorney, handling all acquisitions, dispositions, leases, and licenses. At the City, I gained extensive knowledge of eminent domain and municipal processes.

Outside of work I like to spend time with my husband, two young children, and two dogs. I spend a lot of time reading and watching horror movies when I get the opportunity. As an avid music lover with no musical talent of my own, I am always adding to my collection of vintage vinyl.
