Specialties

My name is Amy Johnson - I am a business lawyer and I primarily help businesses that are going through an acquisition or sale transaction or that are entering into contractual relationships with other businesses.  In part due to my background growing up in rural Iowa, a large part of my practice is advising varied agribusinesses, both large and small, on issues that are of interest or concern to them.

My Approach

My goal is to help you deal with legal issues in a disciplined manner by keeping your focus on the big picture while always working with you to keep in mind your business objectives. It should not be the tail wagging the dog!  My goal is to understand up front what motivates you as a client, what drives you and your business and what your objectives are so that you can be comfortable that you have an experienced and trusted advisor on your side.

More About Me

I graduated, magna cum laude, with my B.A. from Central College in 2004 and, cum laude, with my J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in 2007. In 2007, I was admitted to the Iowa bar.  I am a graduate of the West Des Moines Leadership Academy and a recipient of the Des Moines Business Record's Forty Under 40 award which recognizes some of Iowa's top business leaders under the age of 40.  For the last several years, I have been a member of the Greater Des Moines Committee, which is a partner of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, and is responsible for selecting inductees into the Iowa Business Hall of Fame.

I am a former member of the firm's Management Committee.  I also act as chair of the firm's Agribusiness Practice Group. Participating on several non-profit boards in the past, I have been involved with: Easter Seals Iowa, the Morsel Combat Foundation, and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in West Des Moines.  Additionally, I served as co-chair of the 2020 March of Dimes Des Moines March for Babies.
