Following a jury trial in Allamakee County, BrownWinick attorneys Loree Nelson and Benjamin Merrill received a defense verdict in favor of their client in a medical malpractice case involving allegations of failure to properly diagnose, evaluate and treat. In the case, BrownWinick represented a nurse practitioner who had treated a minor child in the emergency room following a finger/hand laceration which ultimately led to complications with a tendon in the child’s finger causing range of motion deficits. Eventually, the patient underwent an intricate and complicated surgery to repair function in his damaged tendon.
Following the submission of each side’s evidence, the jury found no evidence of negligence and returned a verdict in favor of the defense and on behalf of the nurse practitioner.
